Who we are
Grand High Court Heroines of Jericho & North Central Matron's Forum — Mental Health Awareness
We are a community-rooted organization dedicated to uplifting women and families through faith, service, and compassionate leadership. Grounded in the values of dignity, resilience, and mutual support, our mission extends beyond ceremonial fellowship to address real-life challenges that affect the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our sisters and neighbors. Mental health awareness is central to that mission.
What we believe
Mental health is fundamental to overall health. Emotional and psychological well-being shapes how we think, feel, relate to others, and fulfill our responsibilities.
No one should face mental health struggles alone. Stigma, silence, and isolation prevent healing and harm families and communities.
Faith and mental health care are complementary. Spiritual resources—prayer, fellowship, pastoral counseling—are powerful supports but do not replace professional treatment when it is needed.
Education and early intervention save lives. Understanding warning signs, coping strategies, and pathways to help prevents crises and promotes long-term recovery.
What we do
Raise awareness: We create accessible, culturally sensitive programming that teaches the signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other common mental health conditions. Our workshops and sermons normalize help-seeking and encourage open conversation.
Provide support: Through peer-to-peer groups, pastoral listening teams, and referral networks, we offer confidential emotional support and practical guidance for navigating mental health services.
Build partnerships: We collaborate with licensed mental health professionals, clinics, and community agencies to expand access to screening, counseling, and crisis intervention in neighborhoods that need it most.
Train leaders: We equip matrons, ministers, and community volunteers with training in mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, and culturally competent communication so they can respond safely and effectively.
Advocate: We champion policies that improve access to affordable care, protect privacy, and reduce barriers for underserved populations, especially Black women, families, and elders.
Promote holistic wellness: Our initiatives integrate spiritual care, physical health promotion, social connection, and economic stability—recognizing that mental health is shaped by multiple, interconnected factors.
Who we serve
Members of the Grand High Court Heroines of Jericho and participants in the North Central Matron’s Forum.
Families, caregivers, and community members who live within our outreach areas.
Those disproportionately affected by systemic barriers: low-income households, people of color, seniors, veterans, and survivors of trauma.
How we measure impact
Increased knowledge and reduced stigma, assessed through pre/post workshop surveys.
Greater help-seeking behavior, tracked via referrals and uptake of counseling services.
Stronger social support networks, evaluated through participant feedback and peer group attendance.
Policy and community changes that expand access to services and resources.
How you can get involved
Attend a mental health awareness session or devotion focused on emotional wellness.
Join or start a peer support or listening circle in your chapter.
Volunteer for training in mental health first aid or become a referral coordinator.
Advocate locally for funding, parity in insurance coverage, and community mental health resources.
Offer compassionate presence: listen without judgment, encourage professional help when needed, and check in regularly with those who may be struggling.
Our promise We commit to creating safe, respectful spaces where mental health is discussed openly and treated with the same care and urgency as physical and spiritual health. We will continue to lead with compassion, educate our communities, and partner with professionals to ensure that every sister and neighbor has the support needed to thrive.
